Day#4: First Rest Day

Day#4: Santa Barbara REST DAY
This morning we woke up and moved our stuff to a different host in Santa Barbara: the First United Methodist Church. We walked two miles to a laundromat and then walked around the beach and the wharf (pier). But the best part of the day was meeting Ahnaf, who we gave an Ulman Cancer Fund college scholarship, he is an amazing cancer survivor (and only 20 years old)! He was basically given a death sentence at age 17 but now is cancer free and headed to college – what an inspiration! We had a picnic in the park with the food we managed to get donated thanks to the generosity of Santa Barbara! In the evening we noticed a number of homeless men set up their sleeping bags outside the church so when we were given Panera’s day old bread we made sure to share. 🙂
